Certas Energy, the UK’s largest independent fuel distributor, has launched a new partnership with farmer and influencer Olly Harrison to highlight some of the most important fuelling challenges and opportunities facing British agriculture.
Running across the next eight months, the collaboration will align with the farming calendar, covering topics such as:
- Fuel security during harvest
- Building resilience into winter fuel supplies
- Planning refuelling strategies ahead of spring
Through his daily vlogs and social channels, Olly will share practical tips with his audience of more than 400,000 followers across all social channels. These will range from simple efficiency measures to the role of technology in preventing fuel theft – for example, by using tank telemetry systems that monitor fuel levels and provide alerts if sudden drops are detected.

Fuel security remains a pressing issue for many farmers. The NFU’s latest Mutual Rural Crime Report revealed that the estimated cost of rural crime across 2024 reached £44.1m, underlining the need for strong measures to protect valuable fuel supplies.
Looking to the future, the partnership will also explore alternative fuels for farming. Olly will be trialling the diesel alternative Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) in his machinery, showcasing its performance and potential sustainability benefits as a fuel of the future.
Certas Energy supplies around 170 million litres of fuel every year to more than 11,000 farms and agricultural businesses across the UK. Olly himself has been a long-standing Certas customer, with first-hand experience of the importance of reliable supply.

“We’ve worked with Certas for years and we’ve always had a great service,” says Olly Harrison. “As a farmer, it’s important to have a long-term relationship with your fuel supplier. If you ever run out, they’re always there to help.”
Sam Bocock, Commercial Marketing Manager for Farming & Agriculture at Certas Energy, added:
“This partnership breaks new ground for us. Olly is a well-respected and influential voice in the sector, and we’re excited for this collaboration. For several decades we’ve proudly supported UK farming, and our MD comes from a farming family himself. We look forward to sparking conversations around fuel security, efficiency and the future of farm fuelling.”
This partnership reflects Certas Energy’s commitment to supporting farmers not just with reliable fuel supply, but also with insight, advice and innovations that help safeguard the future of the industry.
