Reduce air and noise pollution

Shell GTL Fuel is a paraffinic alternative to diesel that reduces noise, smell and smoke from plant and machinery.

It can immediately reduce local emissions, is readily biodegradable and poses fewer environmental hazards than conventional diesel.

Shell GTL Fuel is a simple drop-in alternative that requires no modifications to engines or refueling infrastructure.

It an easy way to lessen your site’s impact on the surrounding community and environment.

Lower harmful local emissions

Breathing in polluted air can lead to serious health problems, including respiratory illness, asthma, bronchitis and even cancer. Air pollution is a key concern for the construction industry for both operatives working around diesel engines and communities surrounding the sites.

Gas-to-Liquid (GTL) Fuel has improved combustion properties inside standard diesel engines, helping to reduce emissions and improve local air quality.  Trials have shown that Shell GTL Fuel can reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions by up to 37%, and particulate matter (PM) by up to 90% compared to conventional diesel.

Differentiate Your Business

When sustainability and social value impact can account for up to 20% of a tender score, businesses who choose to explore alternative ways to reduce on-site emissions can demonstrate an innovative approach to tackling industry issues.

Consider alternative fuel as part of the air quality planning and monitoring process. Using fuel as part of the mix to protect the well being of operatives, surrounding community,  wildlife and landscapes.

Services Manager at Jackson Civil Engineering, Andy Lusher said: “Previous trials have shown that Shell GTL Fuel can significantly reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) and particulate matter emissions so we were keen to give it a try on our sites. The Perry Barr and Witton scheme offers a unique opportunity to introduce alternative fuels to reduce on-site emissions and with Birmingham’s active consultation on the new Clean Air Zone proposed for 2020, we felt this was the perfect site for the trial”
