About Shell GTL Fuel
Certas Energy was recognised with a bronze Environmental Innovation Award for the use of cleaner burning diesel alternative, Shell GTL Fuel. Working in partnership Jackson Civil Engineering and the Environment Agency during development of the Perry Barr and Witton Flood Risk Management Scheme. The fuel has been proven to immediately reduce local emissions of air pollutants including nitrogen oxide (NOx) and particulate matter (PM).
Certas Energy was recognised for the use of Shell GTL Fuel and innovative fuel management solutions in partnership with Jackson Civil Engineering and the Environment Agency during the development of Perry Barr and Witton Flood Risk Management Scheme.Exclusively supplied in the UK by Certas Energy, Shell GTL Fuel is a cleaner-burning diesel alternative that can minimise the environmental impact of construction operations. As a drop-in solution, the fuel can be used in NRMM engines to immediately improve air quality without the need for modifications to existing equipment. As the Perry Barr and Witton Flood Risk Management Scheme site is within a nature reserve and close to a local school, the fuel’s wider emission, environmental and performance benefits aimed to reduce impact of air and noise pollution on the local community, operatives and wildlife.
Shell GTL Fuel has been proven to reduce harmful emissions of nitrogen oxides by up to 25%, particulate matter by up to 90% and carbon monoxide by up to 28%. The fuel is also odourless and can cut noise levels in some engines by 3-5 decibels for the benefit of the workforce and local community. Classified as non-toxic and readily biodegradable, Shell GTL Fuel also poses fewer environmental hazards when working near watercourses and diverse ecosystems.Certas Energy further partnered with Jackson Civil Engineering to achieve additional environmental and efficiency improvements through the supply of a 17,000-litre capacity self-managed fuel storage tank . As well as removing fuel level maintenance safety risks for operatives, the upgrade enabled Jackson Civil Engineering to further reduce emissions through fewer site deliveries and reduced lorry movements throughout the nature reserve. To discover how Certas Energy’s award-winning range of fuel management solutions can help minimise the environmental impact of your construction site, visit stand K9B at Plantworx 2019 between 11th-13th June 2019
