Introducing the Cold Weather Priority Initiative
As many as 40,000 people in the UK die every winter due to insufficient heating in cold weather, with around 80% of these deaths occurring in people over the age of 75.
That's why we're proud to be leading the off-grid energy sector in developing the Cold Weather Priority initiative (CWP), which aims to reduce the number of these unnecessary deaths.
Naturally, these tragic events occur in households with access to mains gas as well as in homes that are 'off the grid' and need regular deliveries of fuel oil. However, as we serve the majority of the 1.2m UK homes that have oil-fired heating, we think it's our responsibility to take the lead in looking after our customers; particularly those over the age of 75.
The CWP scheme is designed to identify those people who may be susceptible to colder conditions, enabling fuel suppliers across the UK to know exactly who may be at risk, enabling them to take pro-active steps to ensure fuel deliveries these customers, particularly during times of fuel shortages or extreme cold weather.
Importantly, it costs customers absolutely nothing to be part of the CWP initiative. To join the scheme either call us on 0800 0854 818 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. It's quick and easy to join you only need your name and address and we can explain exactly how it works.
